About The Event
Calvin Johnson is the founder and owner of the influential indie label K Records (now Dub Narcotics) and has been cited as a major player in the beginning of the modern independent music movement. As a prominent figure in the Olympia music scene, he was one of the major organizers of the seminal International Pop Underground Convention. Johnson’s last studio album, 2018’s “A Wonderful Beast” was a collaboration with the Black Key’s Patrick Karney.
The Right Swipes began over a decade ago as Jaimie Heiges and JJ Marshall began recording Jaimie's art-house solo songs as GarageBand demos. After years of working as a band focused on recording, they began performing as a duo in 2018 and have played all over Louisiana since then.
Their debut record "Melon Collie" was featured on Third Coast as "Album of the Day." The Right Swipes' sound is lo-fi, beat-driven pop with loud guitars and catchy hooks. Jaimie and JJ both sing and play guitar over drum machines. They are really good and very funny and surprisingly sexy.
