Cassie Tupman is returning to the family’s North Carolina lake house because her new novel, her
first literary venture without her editor and father, Church Tupman, has been savaged by the
critics. She is returning to lick her wounds and beg Church’s forgiveness for attempting this
project on her own and to enlist his help on her new idea, which is a surefire hit. Church’s goal
in life is to see that Cassie becomes the writer he never was. Her mother, Paula, has more
practical concerns and sees that Cassie needs more than work in her life, chiefly the love and
companionship of her childhood sweetheart across the lake Gideon, who’s contentious on again
off again relationship was the subject of the failed novel. Gideon is not happy and intends on
telling her so, but when these four strong personalities come together to achieve their various
goals, very smart and extremely funny and possibly tragic things happen. The play is directed by
Cité des Art Program Director Daniel Ladmirault and the cast features Joe Riehl, Kristen Dubois,
Carmen Nicholson and Jacob White.
