THINGS MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME by Katherine DiSavino
Synopsis: Olivia and Gabe are moving into their first apartment together. They’ve just packed up all of their belongings and driven halfway across the country to start a new life together in Chicago. Their moving day doesn’t go exactly as planned and things become slightly more complicated when both sets of parents show up to “help”. This play takes a generational look at relationships, and how sometimes parents are passing their best lessons on to their children without even meaning to. It's a comedy in which three couples love each other and value the things that make their partners special. THINGS MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME by Katherine DiSavino is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
October 31 – November 10
THE LION IN WINTER by James Goldman
Synopsis: Sibling rivalry, adultery, and dungeons – The Lion in Winter, by James Goldman, is a modern-day classic. Comedic in tone, dramatic in action – the play tells the story of the Plantagenet family, who are locked in a free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. The queen, and wealthiest woman in the world, Eleanor of Aquitaine, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom and King Henry’s paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, “Every family has its ups and downs,” and this royal family is no exception. December 5 – 15
AN ACADIANA CHRISTMAS CAROL adapted and directed by Alicia Chaisson
Synopsis: Set in contemporary south Louisiana, the story follows the transformation of Edward Scrooge from a disconnected, manipulative profiteer to an empathetic, active participant in the world. Fueled by the magic of Christmas, Scrooge is visited by ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future who teach the valuable lesson that it is never too late to give and accept love. One way of showing love is to accept responsibility. This twist on the classic Dickens' tale will appeal to all with its spirit of fun, forgiveness, and generosity.
